Cllr Bill Fereday


Cllr Fereday is a newly co-opted Parish Councillor.

Bill was born in Aston on Trent and lived in the village until the age of 16 when he joined HM forces and served for 11 years.

Following this he served with Devon and Cornwall Police for 23 years on the rural beat investigating rural crimes and as a police dog handler. Bill was also a volunteer lifeguard for Caradon District Council during this time and was elected to represent GB in the World Surf Life Saving Championships which were held in South Africa.

Bill moved to live in South Africa in 2007 involved in conservation and training as a field guide in the South African bush.

A keen cyclist, chosen to represent the British Police Masters Time Trial Champion in 2005 and 2006 and helped to form the first black development team who raced all over Africa - two of the team members have since gone on to become professional cyclists in Spain.

Bill has significant history with Aston on Trent, and strong family ties and is keen to put his experience to good use as a Parish Councillor.
